Art lovers are invited to explore the origins of a cute monster during "Bakumbaa: I Am The Monster" which is running at RCB Photographers' Gallery, 2nd floor of River City Bangkok, Charoen Krung 24, until Jan 5.

The word monster conjures images of beings that stand apart -- creatures marked by their unusual traits, out of sync with their surroundings.

This is a debut solo exhibition by Bakumbaa, or Danai Seneesaowaluk, an art toy designer who channels his personal feelings and experiences into his creations, covering evocative oil paintings and a delightful array of art toys.

His work reflects themes of alienation, oddity, and being out of place -- emotions that arise when we find ourselves in unfamiliar settings with unknown people, making us feel like "monsters" or outsiders.

To capture these sentiments, he has designed "Babaa", an extraterrestrial being who has inadvertently strayed from his home planet to Earth.

To the other creatures on Earth, the four-eared character appears as a monster. This character embodies the struggles and learning process of a child trying to navigate and overcome the challenges of a new world.

Through trials and triumphs, Babaa carves out his own tribe, calling in Bakumbaa, in the hope that one day he will find companions who understand him -- creatures like himself who can share in his journey.
