Moca Bangkok presents "In Just A Blink Of An Eye", a thought-provoking performance piece by renowned Chinese contemporary artist Xu Zhen.
In Just A Blink Of An Eye features performers suspended mid-air, seemingly defying the laws of gravity. The performers hold their impossibly still poses for hours, supported by hidden structures, creating a powerful moment of stillness. A moment frozen in time that invites deep reflection on time, materiality and perception.
Staged in China in 2005, the work critiqued precarious working conditions in factories and the volatile global economy. By 2019, its meaning had evolved, reflecting a more stable economic climate. With a blend of humour, irony and conceptual depth, Zhen transforms the performers into living sculptures, blurring the line between stillness and movement while manipulating time itself.
Zhen lives and works in Shanghai. He's a leading figure in contemporary Chinese art and his practice spans a wide range of media, including installations, video, painting and performance.
In Just A Blink Of An Eye will be on view at Moca Bangkok’s 5th Floor Temporary Exhibition 4 on weekends until Dec 29.
