The Melbourne Cup horse race is an iconic annual event on the Australian calendar, which is held on the first Tuesday in November. This year the event will be broadcasted live on Nov 5 at the Dusit Thani Hotel from 9.30am, supported by the Advance Australia Council and the Australian and New Zealand Welcome Group. The Melbourne Cup Charity Lunch is raising funds for Hands Across The Water, which supports disadvantaged children and families across Thailand. After a successful run of 10 sold-out performances of the play "Before 2475” in Aug, the creative collective AORTA, in collaboration with River City Bangkok, is bringing back the play as an open-air rooftop production, which is self-claimed to be the first of its kind in the country. The play will offer audiences an immersive experience, blending live jazz music, evocative set design and a synergy of lights and sound. The cherry on top is the stunning backdrop of the Chao Phraya River under the night sky. Thais know how crucial BE 2745 was in shaping politics. In “Before 2475 Restage” viewers will be taken on a journey back in time to explore pivotal moments in the nation’s history when Siam went from absolute monarchy to constitutional monarchy. The play unfolds in the days before a great political transformation, taking the audience back to hushed conversations in Parisian cafés. Seven young men in their twenties began to shape a dream, exchanging ideas about boundless possibilities. Pridi, Plaek, Prayun, Naeb, Tua, Tasnai and Jaroon — though they came from different backgrounds — were united by a common vision. They dreamed of a change that would reshape their country forever.
