The Standard to debut in Singapore

The Standard, Singapore will open in the fourth quarter

TRAVEL

The Standard has expanded its foothold in Asia Pacific with the opening of The Standard, Singapore, its fifth property in the region, which aims to be an urban sanctuary in the city of Merlion.

Slated to be opened in the fourth quarter of 2024, the property follows two openings in Southeast Asia with The Standard, Hua Hin and The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon.  The Standard, Singapore is nestled on Orange Grove Road and is steps away from the 150-year-old Unesco Botanic Gardens and the Orchard Road shopping district. The property has positioned itself as an urban oasis to live up to Singapore's reputation as a "City In A Garden”.

Created by Standard International’s acclaimed in-house design team in collaboration with Ministry of Design, The Standard, Singapore blends East with West for a rich cultural exchange. The property will offer 143 thoughtfully designed neutral-toned rooms across eight floors, each offering views of the pool and the lush greenery of the district through floor-to-ceiling windows.

A serene moment awaits in The Garden, which is stretched across the first and second floors, leading up to The Pool. The path is lined with art installations and carefully selected landscape elements that set the perfect stage for Singapore sunsets. The property pays homage to the nearby botanical gardens and incorporates works from local artists and artisans. The staff uniforms are designed by Shone Puipia who blends the spirit and utility of traditional uniforms with contrasting hues and textures that add vibrancy.

Dining-wise, The Standard, Singapore caters to different cravings for residents and out-of-towners. Kaya reimagines the izakaya experience with bold and elevated flavours from Japan-inspired dishes made with regional ingredients and an inventive cocktail programme. Patrons can enjoy nigiri, maki rolls and robatayaki, to be washed down with sake or whisky. Adjacent to the restaurant is Kaya Bar, a sultry evening destination that brings the element of nightlife for which The Standard brand is well-known. On the ground floor sits Café Standard, a street-facing, buzzy neighbourhood bistro. Its all-day menu boasts American fare paired with natural wines and craft beers.
