Work Experience
In 1996, Ms Narumon joined the Citi Thailand Bangkok branch as a management associate.
She has substantial experience in foreign exchange, fixed income securities, multi-asset strategy and structured products.
Prior to the appointment as the CCO, she held multiple leadership roles which included head of corporate sales and structuring, head of derivatives and structuring, and head of global markets and securities services at Citi.
In addition, Ms Narumon serves on the board of directors for the Association of International Banks and is a member of the board of governors for the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand.
Education
Ms Narumon holds a bachelor’s degree in business English and marketing from Assumption University and a master’s degree in financial management from California State University, San Bernardino.
After Citigroup Inc agreed to sell its consumer banking businesses in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam to United Overseas Bank in January 2022, Citi Thailand appointed Ms Narumon as the bank’s new CCO in May 2023.
Ms Narumon is Citi Thailand’s first female to hold the top executive post.
She decided to apply for the CCO position after Citigroup opened for recruitment and selection in 2022 to prove her expertise and capability.
“Under the leadership role of Citi Thailand, I want to support both local and international clients in search of new business opportunities,” said Ms Narumon.
Regarding Citigroup’s recent business restructuring in Asia-Pacific recently, Citibank operates only wholesale banking businesses in the region, including Thailand.
With a 56-year business operation in the Thai market, Citi Thailand has supported Thai corporations’ growth and development, both locally and internationally.
Joining the bank during the Asian financial crisis in 1997, Ms Narumon has contributed to the bank’s business expansion, in particular its digital banking business.
After being appointed the new CCO, she received congratulatory emails from many women in several countries, telling her she had broken the glass ceiling for women based on her achievements and leadership style, becoming an inspiration for future generations of women.
Ms Narumon was a famous singer from 1993 to 2007. She still loves singing and performs depending on availability, such as the RS Hits Journey Concert in 2023.
Narumon stated that the key focus of Citi Thailand under her leadership is to support both Thai organizations and international corporate clients, ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large businesses, in expanding and growing their businesses in the global market. This is achieved through a strategy that leverages the bank's strengths to benefit and create value for customers across three main dimensions: thinking globally, providing solutions, and delivering results in one city.
For "thinking globally," Citi Thailand utilizes the advantages of Citigroup's network spanning 95 countries, enabling it to respond to customers' needs in both investment and market expansion across various countries. Particularly, by enabling SMEs to grow in larger international markets beyond Thailand alone.
In addition to providing financial support to customers, the bank also acts as a representative of Thailand, showcasing the country's strengths to foreign counterparts and encouraging investment in Thailand. Similarly, the bank assists Thai corporate clients in exploring new markets.
The next step involves offering solutions that leverage Citi's strengths, such as efficient payment platforms capable of processing up to 5,000 transactions per second. Furthermore, Citi continuously supports and expands its customers' businesses, ensuring their long-term sustainability alongside the bank.
