Tanont Chumroen, professionally known as Nont Tanont, was born on March 4, 1996. He rose to prominence as the winner of The Voice Thailand and later The Mask Singer Thailand, two of the country’s most prestigious singing competitions. Beyond his impressive vocal abilities, Nont captivates audiences with his wit and playful personality—earning him the affectionate nickname, “a comedian who can sing.”

A Voice Discovered

Despite his lighthearted nature, Nont approaches both life and music with dedication. From a young age, he was eager to explore his interests—whether excelling in sports, working as a local guide in Phuket, or immersing himself in video games. However, it was music that ultimately won his heart. At just seven years old, he discovered his passion for singing, finding joy in creating music and seeing others enjoy his performances.

Unlike many who believe in innate talent, Nont attributes his success to relentless practice. As a child, he would record himself singing on cassette tapes, replaying and perfecting each verse until he was satisfied—or until the tape wore out. This unwavering determination led him to victory in The Voice Thailand at just 16, marking a pivotal moment in his journey as a professional singer.

After The Voice Thailand

Following his win, Nont faced challenges adapting to the entertainment industry. In an interview with a day magazine, he recalled, “In the first two or three years, I didn’t even know how to answer questions. A TV host once asked me something very long, and all I could say was, ‘It’s good.’ The host was so shocked, they didn’t know what to say next.” Realising the importance of communication, he worked diligently to improve his public speaking skills, gradually unveiling the fun and charismatic side that fans adore today.

Nont also took time to refine his musical style, focusing on quality over quantity. He shared with The Standard, “I believe in quality over quantity… When I worked on ‘Mee Pon Tor Hua Jai’ and ‘Feun Tua Ayng Mai Pen,’ it took me a year and a half to finish each song because I wanted them to be perfect.”

The Mask Singer Thailand and Beyond

Six years after The Voice Thailand, he cemented his status as a top-tier artist by winning The Mask Singer Thailand Season 4, propelling him to the forefront of the Thai music scene. Since then, he has released hit singles such as Ping, Melt, and First Love. His decade-long experience in the industry culminated in his debut full-length album, Cigarette Candy & Vanilla Sky, further solidifying his artistic identity.

Beyond music, the Thai pop star remains passionate about video games. As a child, he jokingly admitted that he kept singing to earn pocket money for games. Today, as a professional artist, Nont even has a separate bank account dedicated to gaming expenses. He actively engages with Thailand’s gaming community through his YouTube and Twitch channels, aiming to support and uplift the local gaming industry alongside his contributions to music.

Through perseverance, talent, and an unmistakable charm, Nont Tanont has established himself as one of Thailand’s most beloved artists. His journey is a testament to the balance of playfulness and artistry, proving that true passion—when pursued with dedication—can lead to extraordinary success.
