Mr. Jonathan Kings, Ambassador of New Zealand to Thailand; Ms. Suzy Fewtrell, New Zealand Trade Commissioner to Thailand; and Mr. Ray Long, Chief Engineer – NZAero, gather at the Royal Thai Air Force's 88th Anniversary event.

NZAero, a pioneering New Zealand aerospace firm, proudly joined the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) in commemorating its 88th Anniversary, an event that also celebrated over five decades of steadfast partnership and technological collaboration. The grand occasion showcased the RTAF’s rich history and modern capabilities, featuring aerial precision formations, skydiving displays, and an exhibition of historic and advanced aircraft.

As a long-standing partner of the RTAF, NZAero’s participation underscores its enduring commitment to Thailand’s aviation sector. Since December 1972, when the first CT-4 aircraft (MSN002) was personally received by His Majesty King Rama IX, the CT-4 fleet has remained integral to the RTAF’s pilot training programs. Over the years, successive models of the CT-4 have played a crucial role in training and operational readiness, embedding the aircraft into Thailand’s aviation legacy.

Advancing the CT-4 for the Future

Looking ahead, NZAero is set to enhance the CT-4 fleet with a proposed modern upgrade program designed to extend its operational lifespan. This initiative will introduce a Garmin avionics suite to improve situational awareness, enhance safety, and reduce pilot workload, ensuring that the aircraft meets contemporary training standards. The upgrade will also incorporate an advanced air-conditioning system, significantly improving cockpit comfort and reducing pilot fatigue in Thailand’s warm climate. These enhancements will elevate the CT-4’s performance, providing the RTAF with a future-ready training platform that maximises efficiency.

A Legacy of Trust and Innovation

As NZAero continues to drive aerospace innovation, its presence at the RTAF’s 88th Anniversary highlights a shared legacy of engineering excellence and mutual commitment to advancing Thailand’s aviation capabilities.

"We are deeply honoured to celebrate this milestone with the Royal Thai Air Force, reflecting on our shared journey and unwavering partnership," said Stephen Burrows, Chief Executive Officer of NZAero. "Our commitment to Thailand remains as strong as ever, and we look forward to furthering aviation innovation together in the years to come."

NZAero extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Royal Thai Air Force and looks forward to strengthening this partnership, ensuring continued excellence in aviation training and technology for future generations.
