THAI-NORWEGIAN TIES MARKED WITH CHARITY RUN

Bangchak and OKEA support a charity walk and run in Oslo to celebrate 120 years of diplomatic relations while raising funds for underprivileged patients at Siriraj Hospital.

Bangchak and OKEA are joining the celebration of 120 years of Thai-Norwegian diplomatic relations by supporting a charity walk and run for the Siriraj Foundation.

On 19 March 2025, Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President of Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications at Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, together with Mr. Komut Maneechai, Managing Director of BCPR Pte. Ltd., participated in a press conference announcing the charity event. The conference was organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo and the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, with Bangchak and BCPR participating as supporting organisations.

Professor Dr. Apichat Asavamongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, chaired the press conference alongside H.E. Ms. Nitivadee Manitkul, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Norway. Executives from Siam Cement Public Company Limited, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand also attended the event at Siriraj Hospital.

The charity event celebrates 120 years of continuous Thai-Norwegian diplomatic relations, which encompass cooperation in diplomacy, economy, education, trade, investment, and public health. This relationship dates back to His Majesty King Chulalongkorn's state visit to Norway in 1905. His Majesty's visionary reforms sought to align Thailand with developed nations, including the establishment of Siriraj Hospital in 1888 to provide medical care and alleviate suffering.

The Charity Walk & Run will take place on Sunday, 22 June 2025, from 15:00 to 17:00 hrs. local time in Oslo, a city known for its fresh air and bright summer sunlight. Participants can choose between 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer routes, starting at the Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo and finishing at the Oslo Opera House. Organisers expect over 200 participants, including Thais, Norwegians, and expatriates living in Norway.

Those interested in participating can register by contacting the Royal Thai Embassy at admin.osl@mfa.go.th or by calling +47 2212 8660. The entry fee is THB 5,000 or NOK 1,500, with all proceeds going to the Fund for the 120th Anniversary of Thai-Norwegian Diplomatic Relations to support treatment for underprivileged patients at the Siriraj Foundation.

Bangchak Group has invested in Norway through BCPR Company Limited, which invests in petroleum exploration and production via OKEA ASA. OKEA specialises in oil field operations with rights to multiple crude oil and natural gas fields. Currently, the company operates in six fields—Draugen, Brage, Nova, Statfjord, Gjøa, and Ivar Aasen—with a combined average production capacity of approximately 31,000 barrels per day.

As part of its support for the event, Bangchak will sponsor registration fees for 10 Thais residing in Norway who wish to participate in the Charity Walk & Run. The Royal Thai Embassy in Oslo will provide further details at a later date.
